The San Francisco Neo-Futurists present our latest long-form play: We Bought A Gun!

Written and performed by jeb and Willie Caldwell, current and former Artistic Directors of The San Francisco Neo-Futurists, respectively.

Set in the Bay Area in 2026, We Bought A Gun! weaves historical, cultural, and personal threads through its central narrative: a couple deciding to buy a gun together for the first time. Intimate and occasionally intense (but never macabre), We Bought A Gun! brings the audience beyond the fourth wall and into the dialogue, inviting a communal exploration of compassion, compromise, pain, and purpose. A depature from The Infinite Wrench format of 30 plays in 60 minutes, this Beyond-the-Wrench production is a full play that adheres to the theatrical tenants of Neo-Futurism: we are who we are, we are where we are, we are doing what we're doing, the time is now.

Logistical notes:

  • Runtime is about 80 minutes and there is no intermission. Please arrive at the theater at least 15 minutes before showtime to check in, there is no late entry.

  • The venue is ADA acessible and on the ground floor. There are no stairs. The venue has water fountains and 2 gender neutral bathrooms.

  • There is limited street parking around the theater, so give yourself time to find parking! We recommend taking public transit; the theater is a short walk from Powell St station.

  • You are welcome to bring outside food and n/a drinks into the theater. We also recommend stopping by the Tempest around the corner for drinks and snacks before or after the show.

Notes around the show's theme and content:

  • We maintain high standard of safety. All props are handled by professionals who are trained and certified to do so.

  • The show will not depict graphic violence or gore.

  • No guns will be fired and there is no ammunition featured in the show or on the premises.

  • At no point in the show will there be realistic gunshot sound effects. However, there will be cartoon ones.

  • The show features brief smoke and strobe effects.

  • Recommended for ages 13+. We ask that anyone under 18 be accommpanied by an adult.
